2015 So Far . . .


Australia Day/Waitangi Day Party - 29 January


A night at the James Joyce Irish Pub was attended by about 40.  A few short speeches and lots of lovely wine, beer and curry.


Commonwealth Business Mixer - 12 February - 

One of Prague's biggest networking events


The British Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, the Czech Australian New Zealand Association, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, and the Indian Czech Joint Chamber of Commerce held a Commonwealth Joint Business Mixer.

For the first time, four chambers of the Commonwealth came together to host an event.At the event you were able to enjoy various national dishes and music, and mingle with more than 150 guests from the business community.

This year was special as it has been 100 years since Gallipoli. This year's events were special too.


 The ceremony was very well attended - with the Czech Army Band playing for us, as well as representation from the Australian military:

Concert and networking 18 June

Event in honour of Rudolf Pekarek
A very special AU - CZ Connection

On the 18th of June, the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK) performed a concert in honour of Rudolf Pekarek (1900-1974).

Rudolf Pekarek was a Czech-Australian conductor, founder of Prague Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor of Queensland Symphony Orchestra between 1954-1967.

The concert will included the Czech première of a work by renowned Australian composer, Miriam Hyde


  • MIRIAM HYDE: Kelso Ouverture (Czech première)
  • JOHANNES BRAHMS: Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 2 in B flat major Op. 83
  • ANTONÍN DVOŘÁK: Symphony No. 8 in G major Op. 88 „English“

After the concert, CANZA members, as well as other VIPs, were invited to a Social event included tasting of quality Aussie wine and pies (courtesy of the Pie Shop) and a chance to meet with the artists.

Prague Quadrennial 2015

18 - 28 June

Prague Quadrennial is the world’s largest scenography event showcasing innovative design, painting and theatrical scenery along with themed performances.

Australia had its own room with eight projects on show. Using large-scale video projection, the room was filled with images from each of the projects.

3 Summer Beer  events

We organised three summer beer garden events. As always, these well attended events offered a great opportunity to meet other Aussies and Kiwis.

Summer Australian Grill and Wine Lunch

5 July

This event was held in conjuntion with Club Vivanova at Lindner Hotel Prague Castle on Sunday 5 July.

We enjoed a gourmet summer wine grill with excellent Woodlands wines,

New Zealand Wine Tasting

27 July

Parco Mollo Wines, who very generously supported us with their fantastic wines at our charity ball organised a wine tasting at which they highlighted wines from the Saint Clair Family Estate, Marlborough, New Zealand. These wines are made by renowned winemaker Mat Thompson, and include the World's No.1 - White Wine as judged by the International Challenge London 2012/2013. 


Summer Beer Garden 2 - 30 July

This time we met up in Riegrovy sady- zahrádky (Park-café). As an added incentive, the beer garden had Aussie pies from The Pie Shop.

Zemský akciový pivovar - 20 August

We had our August meet-up at the Australian-owned Czech brewery, Zemský akciový pivovar.  It's in Prague, has fantastic beers that are well priced and they kindly offered to put on a barbecue for us.  



2015 10th Anniversary Ball

Thanks to everyone who attended and supported us

Thank you to everyone who attended our 10th Anniversary Charity Ball.  We raised close to 100,000Kc for this year's charity, Pink Crocodile, and had a fantastic night!
